Sand Filter Change Out: Sand filters should have their sand filter media replaced every 3 years.

Filtration Pumps: Filtration pumps are the heart of any pool system. A good quality filtration pump last about 15 years with proper water chemistry.

Pool Heaters: Pool heaters are essential to any heated pool and also last about 15 years with good water chemistry. However they do have many small components and sensors that can go bad early and need proper diagnosis and repair.

Salt Water Pool Systems: Salt water systems are a great addition to any pool but should be fully understood before converting to salt water. Salt water systems are easily mis-marketed as chlorine free systems and sold as miracle systems that don’t require any maintenance and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Salt water systems are chlorine systems. In fact that is the job of a salt water system is to convert free chlorine from Sodium Chloride(salt) through electrolysis which is great due the ever rising cost of chlorine tablets and shock. Essentially once the system is up and operating it produces free chlorine as to eliminate the need for chlorine tablets and additional shocking of the pool. The major pro of the system is that the system can make an unlimited amount of free chlorine. The major con of this system comes when not properly understood or maintained. water chemistry needs to be tested and adjusted weekly with any body of water and a salt water system is no exception. Left unattended the salt water system will continue to produce chlorine at whatever percentage it was left at, to high and the system will start to over chlorinate and produce to much chlorine which is harmful to both equipment ad bathers, to low and the system will not produce enough chlorine to keep up with bather loads leaving the body of water sanitized. when tested and chlorine levels are low chlorine shock can still be used with a salt water system to quickly sanitize the body of water. Salt cells life expectancy is between 3 - 5 years depending on use.
